Carole Walford
Carole has over 30 years experience specifically in palliative and end of life care. After qualifying as a registered nurse at St Bartholomew’s Hospital, London she held various senior clinical roles prior to moving into clinical teaching and education.

Higher Education roles followed at the Institute of Cancer Research at The Royal Marsden Hospital and then a subsequent joint appointment with Macmillan Cancer Support and Kings College, London which also held a National remit.

In the late 1990s Carole returned to a more clinically focussed role as Palliative Care Projects Manager with the North London Cancer Network which was followed by a successful appointment as programme lead for the 8 strand “Action for London” project.

“Action for London” brought together her rich and varied experience to support and work with the Directors of the then 5 London cancer networks, developing the cancer and end of life care workforce across the capital.

Her most recent appointment was as Director of Education with Weldmar Hospicecare – a post with a dual focus – to meet the needs of the staff at Weldmar Hospicecare and to lead the development of the Hospice Education Alliance (HEA).

The HEA, over six years, successfully brought together hospices and End of Life Care providers from across Dorset, Devon, Hampshire and Wiltshire.

A successful and fruitful collaboration that, together with local higher and further education colleges designed and delivered high quality end of life care education for registered and non registered staff across all care settings.
